Earth Intern Program

This application covers these two programs:

REU Sites program: Open to students from any university or college who are citizens of the United States or are Permanent Residents. Applicants should supply all requested information and select three projects of interest from the REU Sites project list.

Earth Intern program: Open to Columbia and Barnard students only, regardless of citizenship. Since most Barnard and Columbia students can be considered for both programs, these students should supply all requested information and select three projects of interest from each of the program project lists (total of six projects).

Reference letters are submitted online as a pdf file. Once you submit your application, you will be given URLs to send to your two references to upload their letters. NOTE: If you are from Columbia or Barnard, and are applying to both the Earth Intern and the REU Sites programs, the letters of recommendation and transcript(s) are the same for both.

Program Description

You must select your advisors. Those wishing to join REU Sites Program (Program Description) must select three advisors from the REU advisors list. Those wishing to join the Earth Intern Program (Program Description) must select a total of six advisors, three each from the REU advisors list and the Earth Intern advisors list. Those wishing to apply to both programs should select the Earth Intern Program from the drop-down menu.
